Makes me want to shoot
The dials, the size, the film sims — it brings back the joy of photography. 40MP files are razor sharp with the right lens. My favorite travel camera.

Stills star, video runner-up
For photos it is superb and so portable. Video is fine but the AF is not in Sony/Canon territory. As a stills shooter, I love it.

From the community
QIs APS-C a downside versus full-frame?
In very low light full-frame has an edge, but the X-T5's 40MP, IBIS, and smaller lenses make it a compelling, more portable system for most shooting.
QDoes it have a tilting screen?
Yes — it uses a three-way tilting screen favored by photographers, rather than a fully articulating vlog screen.
Frequently asked
Is 40MP overkill on APS-C?
It resolves stunning detail with good lenses, though you will want sharp glass and steady technique to make the most of it.
Can it shoot video well?
It records up to 6.2K/30p with great color, but continuous autofocus in video trails Sony and Canon, so it is stills-first.
Do the film simulations really matter?
Yes — many users shoot JPEG with simulations like Classic Chrome and skip editing entirely, which is part of the appeal.
